The Villnösser Brillenschaf (Vilnösser Eyeglass sheep) is one of the oldest breeds of sheep in Europe, and the oldest in South Tyrol, having originated in the eighteenth century through the crossbreeding of the Bergamasco sheep and the Paduan Silk sheep. The Vilnösser Eyeglass has a white coat and a characteristic dark pigmentation around the eyes, which resembles glasses. The breed produces high-quality, fine wool (approximately 4-5kg per animal) and fine meat.
